The Artificial Eye / Ocular Prosthesis The ocular prosthesis has evolved with the most avant-garde and reliable technique. The resins are acrylics, antiallergic (non-allergic), long living and with handsome aesthetic impact.
|
The fundamental onsets in the elaboration of the ocular prosthesis are the following: |
To create a mold adapted to the ocular cavity of the patient. In a great number of cases, in an enucleated eyeball as in an atrophic eyeball, the individualized elaboration of the mold allows the transmission of the movements of the orbitary cavity to the prosthesis, giving it in this way more vitality and dynamism. To apply an analysis system taking the healthy eye as a model, which allows to reproduce all the chromatic elements of the iris together with the escleral tonality and the corresponding vascularization. |
Bearing in mind that it is entirely handcrafted, we can create any existing singularity. Once made the prosthesis it goes through a perfect sanding, avoiding irritations on the conjunctive and giving it the necessary natural shine. The next step is the eye adjustment to the patient, where the patient's follow-up by our professionals is essential to obtain a good result. |
Our recommendation is to visit us once a year in order to have a complete control of every case, since the ocular cavity can suffer modifications and in consequence the prosthesis may not adapt correctly. Generally an artificial eye can have approximately 3 years of life, later the substitution is advisable as it will have lost his aesthetic function, not being centered by conjunctivitis alterations, etc... |
The eyeball's restoration by one prothesis does not mean a problem to develop our daily activities: to realize any kind of professional task or sport, to attend college, to swim... This means a confidence increase which is very important in helping the patient to not have any complex derived from it.
